This is an ancient banko-yaki teapot by Shimizu Gen (1901-1990). He is Suigetsu the Second and father of Shimizu Hiroshi, the current Suigetsu. Shimizu Gen became part of the intangible heritage of the city Yokkaichi’s in 1973.
The peony engravings are by Mizutani Yoshimi, one of the biggest names in banko-yaki engraving.
